Lamborghini’s new Huracan Tecnica recently made its dynamic premiere on the road and racetrack in Valencia, Spain. Lamborghini put the latest V10 Huracan to its paces to test the handling and performance in all environments. Lamborghini says the Huracan Tecnica has three souls of the super sports car – easy everyday driving, sporty fun-to-drive and high-performing track-day car. People explored all these in downtown Valencia, Spanish mountain roads and the Circuit Ricardo Tormo racetrack.
Lamborghini’s latest iteration of the Huracan, the Tecnica, slots between the Huracan EVO and the Huracan STO. The new Tecnica is only available as an RWD model. According to the brand, this drivetrain setup offers the best of both worlds. The Tecnica offers all the advantages of the STO without being overly hardcore. Lamborghini says the highlight of the Huracan Tecnica is that it offers driving pleasure on the road and approachable limits on the race track.
The design of the Huracan Tecnica draws inspiration from the Lamborghini Terzo Millenio concept. It is also the first time Lamborghini used an air curtain for the Huracan. The Tecnica gets a new, lower front splitter with openings for more downforce and cooling. The side of the car is different from the Huracan EVO. The Tecnica retains the same width and height. However, it is 61 mm longer than the Huracan EVO. The Tecnica also gets new 20-inch diamond cut wheels with centre-locking.
At the back, it features a vertical rear glass window and a carbon-fibre engine hood. Also new is a fixed rear wing which improves the downforce by 35 per cent. The increase in downforce does not come at the cost of more drag. In fact, Lamborghini says the drag is 20 per cent lower.
Powering the latest Huracan is the same 5.2-litre V10 without any forced induction. The motor outputs 640 PS and 565 Nm of torque. The power figure is the same as the STO and 30 PS more than the Huracan EVO. The max torque arrives lower in the rev range compared to the STO. Lamborghini says this helps in everyday driving and also when exiting out of corners on the racetrack. With more power than the Huracan EVO, the Tecnica accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. Meanwhile, 0-200 kmph takes 9.1 seconds. Lamborghini claims the Huracan Tecnica will top out at 325 kmph.
The Huracan Tecnica sends power to the rear wheels using a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Tecnica also utilises a fixed steering ratio and rear-wheel steering. The Tecnica’s aluminium and carbon fibre construction also keep the weight low. The Huracan Tecnica tips the scales at 1,379 kg. Thus, making the Tecnica 10 kg lighter than the Huracan EVO RWD. Furthermore, the optional carbon-ceramic brakes also help reduce weight. These brakes also offer less brake fade and better heat dissipation.
