Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled the 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, a limited edition track-only hypercar designed by the Lamborghini Centro Stile, developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the brand has announced the hypercar will be available in a limited production run of 40 units.
In terms of design and styling, the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 draws inspiration from the 1970s prototypes and Lamborghini signature elements along with the front splitter, large rear wing and side fins inspired from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO. The hypercar features hexagonal geometry on the headlights, roof air scoop and air vents.
Along with the hexagonal elements, the design studio has also incorporated ‘Y’ features into various aspects such as the livery and inside the cockpit which features a dashboard with an asymmetrical Y, which is a technical loadbearing feature which also adds unique style elements to the driver-focused interiors. Furthermore, the design of the steering wheel draws its design inspiration from the F1 single-seater steering wheels that offer a futuristic yet thoughtful design along with texture and ergonomics which allow the driver to hold on to the rim longer on the track.
The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 also benefits from the Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT racing experience and the car features a double air intake with a central rib incorporated on the front hood along with a front splitter with two lateral elements on the side and vertical fins on the side sills that are optimised for engine and gearbox cooling. The rear consists of a double-winged adjustable rear wing. The aerodynamics package ensures that the hypercar makes downforce values higher than a GT3 race car with a value of 1,200 kg at 250 kmph.
The Essenza SCV12 is powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine that develops over 830 Hp of power with uplift from the RAM effect at high speeds. The engine is paired to an X-Trac sequential six-speed transmission that also acts as a structural element within the chassis. The Essenza SCV12 a weight to power ratio of 1.66 kg/Hp achieved by using the new generation carbon fibre monocoque without an internal roll cage, 19-inch front, 20-inch rear magnesium rims shod in Pirelli tyres and Brembo Motorsport brakes.
The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 customer’s become a part of an exclusive club that will give them access to driving the Essenza SCV12 hypercar on the most prestigious tracks in the world. The program includes a storage facility with 24 hours of surveillance using a dedicated application, a driver’s lab that offers an athletic training program similar to official Lamborghini Racing Drivers.
The Race Calendar will start in 2021 with “Arrive and Drive” events held at numerous FIA Grade 1 homologated circuits along with assistance from Squadra Corse technical staff.
