Kia India has teased the all-electric Kia EV9 SUV on its official website in India. The Kia EV9 is the brand most expensive all-electric SUV and is likely to be brought to India as a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit). In addition to this, when the Kia EV9 comes to India, it will automatically become the brand’s flagship model. Powertrain
Powering the Kia EV9 are two battery options – a 76.1 kWh and a 99.8 kWh. While both the battery options are available in the overseas market, the brand is only likely to offer one of them here in India, to streamline imports. The EV9 comes with either a 215 Hp/350 Nm rear wheel drive with a single motor and offers a range of 370 to 489 km on a single charge according to the EPA cycle. While the all-wheel-drive version with produces 379 Hp of power and 700 Nm of torque and the larger battery pack returns 435 to 451 km of range on a single charge. The Kia EV9 also comes with a GT-Line variants that is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in just 5.3 second and has a top speed of 200 kmph.
Platform and Length
In 2023, Kia had showcased the EV9 at the Auto Expo and at the biennial event, the brand revealed its E-GMP platform which it is based on. Also the EV9 measures over 5 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 3,100mm. Thanks to this, the SUV has ample space on its interiors and comes with 6 and 7 seater configurations.
Expect the Kia EV9 to make its debut during this festive season in the first week of October. The EV9 is likely to be priced at around the INR 1 Crore mark.
