Kia Sonet achieved the milestone of 1 lakh sales since its January launch. In the subcompact SUV segment, the Kia Sonet made its debut in the Indian market in 2020. Its sporty styling, extensive feature set, and potent engine options made it an immediate favourite among consumers.
Kia Sonet 1 lakh milestone:
In January 2024, the Sonet saw its first significant update, a redesign that brought enhanced safety technology and more functions. The 2024 Sonet has now sold over 1 lakh units nationwide in just 11 months since its debut.
Only 24% of buyers have chosen the Sonet diesel, whilst 76% of sales of the 1 lakh units sold have been of gasoline-powered models. It’s interesting to note that while automatic and iMT (manual gearbox without a clutch pedal) versions make up 34% of total sales, sunroof-equipped models make up 79%.
For Kia, reaching this accomplishment just 11 months after its debut is a significant milestone. 22 distinct Sonet facelift models are available, including diesel and petrol vehicles with various gearbox options.
Kia Sonet features:
In addition to a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Kia has fitted the Sonet with a 10.25-inch completely digital driver’s display, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, heated front seats, cruise control, a sunroof, keyless entry, and push-button start/stop. A 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), six airbags (as standard), and Level 1 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) all contribute to passenger safety.
Kia Sonet engine:
Kia Sonet offers three engine variants. 1.5 Litre NA petrol engine that produces 83 Ps and 111 Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed MT gearbox. 1-litre turbo petrol engine producing 120 PS and 172 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT gearbox. A 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 116 Ps and 250 Nm. This engine is mated to 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT, or 6-speed AT gearbox
Kia Sonet price and rivals:
The current price range for the Kia Sonet (ex-showroom) is between Rs 8 lakh and INR 15.77 lakh. It competes with vehicles such as the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Tata Nexon. It can also be thought of as a substitute for the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
