Kia Motors India has announced its sales performance for March 2020 and the brand still has strong figures with 8,583 units sold in the month of March 2020 with 7,466 units of the Kia Seltos SUV and 1,117 units of the recently launched KIA Carnival Luxury MPV. Kia has also retained the number three spot in the auto industry with the Seltos as the highest sold SUV in the country for the three months in a row.

The Kia Seltos was launched in August 2019 and the brand has sold 81,784 till date with 2,585 examples exported in March 2020. The Kia Seltos is positioned in the heavily contested mid-SUV segment and competes the MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks and the recently launched Hyundai Creta.

In the month of February, Kia registered a record sales figure of 15,644 total units sold with 14,024 units of the Kia Seltos SUV and 1,620 units of the Kia Carnival MPV. The sales figures in March show a wide gap due to the outbreak of CoronaVirus disease and the lockdown implemented by the central government to contain and control the virus spread. Kia Motors from 16th March 2020 stopped wholesale billings to its dealerships to avoid unnecessary unsold inventory. In view of safety, towards its customers, employees and collaborators Kia Motors has also temporarily suspended all its operations which includes shut down of production units, dealerships and offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The brand has also announced that it has extended the free service period by two months and customers may contact Kia Dealerships using digital channels for inquiries. The brand also has a digital booking facility where customers can book vehicles by going online and logging on the brand’s official website.

Kia also expects that the sales figures on both the Seltos and the Carnival will continue in an upward trend, after the health situations in the country normalise.
