Kia Seltos CVT variants recalled in India

Kia Motors is recalling the Kia Seltos SUV in the Indian market. The recall pertains to an electronic oil pump controller. According to reports, over 4,358 units of the Seltos are affected by the recall. The Kia Seltos manufactured between 28 February 2023 and 13 July 2023, with a CVT transmission (IVT) are affected by the recall.

Under the recall, Kia will be replacing the electronic oil pump controller at no cost to the customer. While the error is not likely to cause any harm or injury, but its fault may affect the performance of the vehicle. The replacement will take place at authorised Kia service centres. The brand will be contacting the owners of the affected vehicle shortly to notify about the recall.

Kia Seltos – Technical Specifications

Powering the Kia Seltos is a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The naturally-aspirated engine makes 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque.  The brand also offers a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The turbocharged engine produces 160 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. Also, a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine producing 116 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque is on offer.

The Seltos comes with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT (Clutchless), a 6-speed Automatic (torque convertor) and a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch) gearbox option spread across variants. However, the IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission) option which is affected by the recall is only available on the Smartstream G1.5 MPi (naturally-aspirated) petrol engine.

Kia Seltos – Service and Warranty

Kia offers the Seltos with ‘My Convenience Plus’ reducing the Total Cost of Ownership of the customer. My Convenience Plus offers inflation protection for Periodic Maintenance Service, Consumables, Spares, and Labour. The brand also offers Extended Warranty & Pre-Paid Maintenance under My Convenience Plus. Kia offers two packages – Premium (4 years) and Luxury (5 years) and the packages are valid for 4 years / 40,000 km or 5 years / 50,000 km.
