Kia India announces its sales report for February 2022. The South Korean carmaker sold a total of 18,121 units for the domestic market. With this, Kia India remains one of the top five selling car manufacturers in the country. In terms of growth, Kia India registered a Y-o-Y growth of 8.5 per cent. Seltos continues to propel Kia India sales, with Sonet taking the second rank with total sales of 6,575 units and 6,154 units, respectively. Carens MPV, which was launched in mid-February, garnered an overwhelming sales of 5,109 units. Carnival, which is aimed at the niche luxury MPV segment, sold a total of 283 units.
Kia India Plans For The Future
With the growing demand for SUVs in the market, Kia India is aiming to produce over 3,00,000 vehicles in the current calendar year. In order to achieve this target, Kia India has already started its third shift at its manufacturing plant. With the recently launched Carens, which is looking very promising, Kia India aims to add significant sales volume.
The carmaker reiterated the issue of shortage in the supply of semiconductor chips, which is hampering production to some extent. To date, Kia has manufactured over 5 lakh units from its Anantapur facility. This accounts for 4 lakh domestic sales and 1 lakh exports. Expanding its dealership network at a healthy pace, Kia India has its presence in over 339 touchpoints covering all major cities and towns in the country.
Kia Carens – Who Is It For?
The recently launched Carens looks quite an interesting product. Kia has termed this car as a ‘Recreational Vehicle’, and not an MPV or an SUV. Now, it’s up to the customers to see the vehicle as they want. Generally speaking, Carens is the perfect choice for customers looking for an over spacious vehicle. The option for 6 or 7 seats and that too with a pretty usable third row makes Carens the perfect choice as a family vehicle. Being a Kia, the car gets all the latest kit and equipment.
