Kia EV5 SUV will deliver up to 720 km range

Recently, Kia revealed the EV5 in a production ready guise. Alongside, the Korean carmaker also showcased EV3 and EV4 Concept vehicles as part of the first Global EV Day event in Korea. Now, more details about the all-electric EV5 have been revealed.

The EV5 will be launched ahead of the EV4 and EV3. The EV3 will be positioned as an entry-level EV offering. The company showcased the production version of the EV5 alongside the concept versions of the EV4 and EV3.

This car is the 3rd car after the EV6 and the EV9 to be based on the dedicated EV platform. On the inside, the car comes with different configuration options. Kia is offering four interior colours and five seat fabric options. There is a 64-colour ambient light as well. Other features include dual screen layout – for infotainment and the driver, a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and slim AC vents.
The rear seat of the EV5 can be flat folded and made into a bed. Meanwhile, the doors that were hinged at the back have been replaced with conventional units.

Other features of the SUV include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 4.1-litre fridge and a 5-inch HVAC display.

Kia EV5 Powertrain, Battery and Variants

Kia is planning to offer the EV5 in three options – standard, long range and long range with AWD. The entry-level version will get an electric motor rated at 215 BHP and a 64 kWh battery. THe company claims a 530 km of range on full charge (CLTC cycle).

The long range variant meanwhile gets the same motor but a larger battery. There is an 88 kWh battery pack which offers a maximum range of 720 km.

Lastly, the AWD variant comes with a dual motor configuration with the same 88 kWh battery and a claimed range of 650 km. The motors are rated at 215 BHP and 94 BHP each.
