Kia could add ADAS features to Seltos facelift

Written by Akhil Dalvi

During the past few months, reports and sources suggested that Korean automotive manufacturer Kia is currently developing the Seltos facelift. Launched in 2019 for the Indian market, the Seltos has become one of the best-selling products for the brand. Meanwhile, recent spy images uploaded online by sources from Korea suggest that the new upcoming Seltos facelift will feature ADAS. Based on several rumours, Kia will introduce and launch the SUV in India around mid-2022 with updated exteriors and interiors.

Upcoming Seltos facelift spy image details

The leaked images of the facelifted Kia Seltos showcases the SUV wrapped under heavy camouflage with very little exterior details. However, the front of the SUV reveals a front camera located on the upper part of the bonnet’s centre grille. This assembly has brought forth the rumours of the Seltos facelift featuring Active Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for added safety. Despite the front being heavily camouflaged, the images revealed the LED DRLs being divided into upper and lower horizontal lines.

The bottom half of the camouflaged SUV reveals the two vertically-shaped fog lights along with a smart cruiser sensor. Towards the sides, the images of the Seltos facelift reveal the new 18-inch alloy wheels with a unique new design. Kia has likely designed the wheels to resemble hybrids in order to minimise air resistance for improved efficiency and mileage. Elements such as the rear taillights, rear-view mirror and sides of the new Seltos facelift remain the same.

Expected Powertrains & Features

Multiple sources and reports suggest that the upcoming facelifted Seltos may continue to utilise the same powertrain options as before. This means that the facelifted Seltos may sport the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the 1.4-litre, turbo-petrol, the four-cylinder motor will likely feature the 6-speed manual or 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Last but not least, the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine will feature a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The first engine produces 115 PS and 144 Nm, whereas the 2nd motor produces 140 PS and 242 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel motor produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Sources suggest that the facelifted Seltos will continue to retain the same convenience features along with updated interiors.
