Kia India has announced the pre-bookings opening date for Carens. The much-awaited 3-row recreational vehicle, as Kia likes to call it, will open its bookings from 14th January. To enable customer convenience, Kia is offering both online as well as offline booking options. The booking amount is set at INR 25,000.

Kia claims that Carens, just like its other two offerings, comes loaded with features. Interestingly, Kia will also export the Carens to 90 other countries, including both right and left-hand drive markets. Given the growing sentiments of Indians to opt for safe cars, Kia this time is highlighting the safety aspect greatly. Kia mentioned that Carens would come with ten robust Hi-Secure safety package, including six airbags as standard fitment.

What Do We Know So Far?

Carens is a 3-row MPV that will take on the likes of Innova and Mahindra Marrazzo. But, Kia is pushing the Carens as a more premium offering to attract more private buyers. The MPV will come in 5 different trims, namely, Luxury, Luxury Plus, Premium, Prestige and Prestige Plus. Alongside this, Carens will also get Kia Connect that comes with 66 connected car features. Customers will also get a host of segment-first features. This includes 26.03 Cm (10.25”) HD Touchscreen Navigation with Next Generation Kia Connect, Ventilated front seats, Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus and Bacteria protection, BOSE Premium Sound System with eight speakers, 2nd Row Seat “One Touch Easy Electric Tumble” and SkyLight Sunroof.

Customers will have three powertrain options and three gearbox options. The three engines are, namely, Smartstream 1.5 Petrol, Smartstream 1.4 T-GDi Petrol, and 1.5 CRDi VGT Diesel. Meanwhile, the three gearbox options include 6MT, 7DCT and 6AT. The MPV will go on sale with eight colour options. These are Sparkling Silver, Gravity Gray, Glacier White Pearl, Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Intense Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and Clear White. Given the rising demand for 3-row SUVs in the market, we expect Carens to sell in good numbers.
