Kia Carens Clavis EV: What to expect?

Kia Carens Clavis EV

The Carens Clavis Electric is going to be the first Kia EV to launch in India. Its price will be announced on July 15, and it will be offered in two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 52.1 kWh.

In terms of design, it will feature an identical shape to the Carens Clavis, but the front fascia will get a closed grille, a connected LED DRL stripe, and a redesigned bumper for better aerodynamics and more range.

On the side profile, we suspect it will be loaded with the new aerodynamic alloy wheel design with low rolling resistance tyres for better performance. The rear profile is also likely to feature slight changes, including a restyled bumper, EV logo, and more.

The cabin design is also expected to remain unchanged from the Clavis ICE version. It will continue offering the tri-connected screen display, the two-spoke steering wheel, wireless connectivity, Bose music system, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated/electric front seats, and more.

It is anticipated that the Carens Clavis Electric will feature the Hyundai Creta Electric’s platform. Hence, it will be offered in two range options, where the maximum range will possibly exceed the 450 km mark.

As far as the pricing is concerned, we are assuming it to be positioned around Rs 22-27 lakh ex-showroom.

Our verdict

The upcoming Carens Clavis EV will begin a new journey for the South Korean carmaker in India. It will also become one of the few electric MPV cars in India upon launch. However, it will be positioned at a premium.
