Written by Nizam Shaikh

Kawasaki has finally revealed the new Retrovolution motorcycle that the brand has been teasing for the past few weeks. The new Kawasaki Z650RS has made its debut in Europe. The all-new Kawasaki Z650RS will be available in the UK from November 2021, starting with the price tag of GBP 7,549 MSRP. The brand will be offering the motorcycle in three colour options – Metallic Spark Black, Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moondust Gray / Ebony.

2022 Kawasaki Z650RS – Design Highlights

The Kawasaki Z650RS boasts of being a delicate blend of old and new, retro and current. The design draws inspiration from the iconic “son of Z1” Z650-B1 in 1977, targeting the young-generation riders. The Kawasaki design team has loaded the Z650RS with clever Z references and a modern-classic look. The Kawasaki Z650RS comes with a rounded LED headlamp, an elongated fuel tank, straight bench seats, a sleek taillamp and a mid-ship exhaust. The bike will also come with an artillery-style twin-pod instruments cluster. The bike also comes with upright handlebars and rounded retro-style mirrors. The Kawasaki Z650RS also comes with thin multi-spoke alloy wheels that look like spoke-wire rims from the side.

2022 Kawasaki Z650RS – Engine Specifications

Powering the Kawasaki Z650RS is the brand’s revered, tried and tested 649cc water-cooled, parallel-twin engine. The adored engine also does duty on the Z650, Ninja 650 and the Versys 650 in various markets worldwide. The motor is known for its durability and performance, and in the case of the Z650RS for low and mid rev response. The engine will produce 68 PS of power, and in Europe, the bike will also come with a 35kw power down kit, creating an A2 compliant motorbike.

2022 Kawasaki Z650RS – Mechanical Specifications

The 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS comes with a tubular trellis type construction frame. Kawasaki has optimised the chassis for lightness, agility and enhanced handling capabilities. The chassis also enables the new riders to easily reach the ground at a stop, ensuring ease of rideability. The European-spec model comes with a commanding seat height of 820mm with a low seat option of 800mm. The motorcycle comes with 41mm conventional forks on the front and horizontal link rear suspension adjustable for pre-load. The bike also features retro-style 300mm round disc rotors on the front and a single disc on the rear.

2022 Kawasaki Z650RS – India Launch

While the brand has not announced the launch of the Z650RS in the Indian market, we speculate that Team Green will launch the motorcycle next year in India, owing to the popularity of the Ninja 650 and Z650 in India.
