Kawasaki working on Versys 1100 for 2025 debut?

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Kawasaki could be working on a bigger Versys adventure touring motorcycle which could make its debut soon. According to a media report, the 2025 Kawasaki Versys is likely to be bigger in terms of engine displacement. This could have been done to achieve cleaner tailpipe emissions, thanks to the tightening emission regulations.

Sources reveal that the leaked type approval documents from Australia have revealed that the Kawasaki Versys is likely to come with a larger engine displacement next year. While the current Versys 1000 is internally known as KLZ1000B, the 2025 Versys is likely to be known as the KLZ1100B. This leads us to believe that the touring motorcycle is likely to come with a 1100cc engine.

Larger Yet Cleaner?

Furthermore, speculation is that the new engine is only likely to be upgraded in terms of cubic capacity and the motorcycle is likely to remain more or less the same. The larger capacity engine is likely to offer better emissions as the it will run in a softer state of tune while still developing similar amounts of power and torque. Even though the cubic capacity is likely to be increased the performance is only likely to be increase moderately.

The current Kawasaki Versys 1000 is powered by a 1,043cc, inline-four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The four valves per cylinder motor delivers a maximum output of 118.2 BHP at 9,000 rpm and 102 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. This engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox that features an assist and a slipper clutch mechanism. Expect the new larger engine to produce more power and torque than the current engine but at a lower rpm range.

When Will it Arrive?

Reports also reveal that Kawasaki could debut the new Versys 1100 at the EICMA show in November followed by its market launch sometime in 2025.
