Kawasaki reveals 4-cylinder Ninja ZX-25R sportsbike

Written by Parichay Malvankar

A motorcycle to fall in love with, for sure. Kawasaki has revealed a new 4-cylinder, 250cc sportsbike under the Ninja brand. At the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show 2019, Kawasaki has revealed the new Ninja ZX-25R which has been speculated about for years, and finally we get to see the real deal. This bike will go on sale globally in 2020, and could also come to India in limited numbers.

The Ninja ZX-25R is quite a star because of the engine. The bike will be powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, DOHC, 4-stroke petrol motor matched to a 6-speed gearbox. While the official performance figures of the motorcycle have not been revealed, we expect close to 60 PS of power to be produced. The old Kawasaki ZX250R which was sold in between 1989-97 produced 45 HP of power and 24.5 Nm of torque. This new Ninja ZX-25R will be a high revving motor for sure and comes with an underbelly exhaust similar to the Ninja 650.

Other features on the bike include a full digital TFT colour display instrument console with bluetooth connectivity, Showa Separate Function Big Piston USD forks at the front, horizontal back-link rear monoshock, traction control, quickshifter up / down and riding modes. The bike features LED headlamps and tail lamps similar to elder siblings ZX-6R & ZX-10R.

Now, the Kawasaki Ninja 400, Ninja 650, Ninja ZX-25R & Ninja ZX-6R have a similar front end design, possible the same parts for the headlamp. The bike, the new 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R has a fully faired design showcased with the KRT livery at the motor show. We expect this new model to be more expensive than the already overpriced Ninja 400, which will make the bike not so affordable here in India. However, 4-cylinder lovers will surely appreciate this pocket rocket.

At the moment there is no other high-performance small-capacity motorcycle in India, since even Honda does not offer the CBR250RR in our market.
