Kawasaki recalls Ninja ZX-4R over engine stalling?

Kawasaki is recalling the Ninja ZX-4R in the United States for an engine stalling problem. According to reports, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R manufactured between January 2023 to November 2023 have an issue, which leads the engine to stall unexpectedly. In the US, Kawasaki will be recalling all the units matching the production dates and rectify the fault free of cost.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R – Recall

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R manufactured between January 2023 and November 2023, may have been fitted with faulty spark plugs. The spark plug while installation may have been damaged due to an issue with the plug tightening tool. Kawasaki has resolved the problem by simply replacing the spark plugs with new ones. In the US, the company is replacing the spark plugs on all the affected vehicles free of cost.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R – Cause

The damaged spark plugs may cause the engine to rough idle or even stall. The unstable idling on the motorcycle may lead to problems during lift-off as well as roll-outs from a stop. In addition to this, the rider is also prone to a fall in a situation where the motorcycle is being turned with the steering on full lock. Unexpected stalling of the engine in such a tight U-turn condition may lead to loss of balance and a crash. However it is important to not that, no injury or death has been reported pertaining to this recall.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R – Will Kawasaki Recall Ninja ZX-4R in India?

Kawasaki also retails the Ninja ZX-4R in the Indian market. However, it is yet unknown, if the defective units have arrived to the Indian soil. Expect, Kawasaki India to issue a similar recall in the Indian market too, in the near future, if any faulty units have been sold. In India, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is available with a price tag of INR 8.49 lakh ex-showroom.
