Kawasaki launches Ninja ZX-4R in India at INR 8.49 lakh

Kawasaki has launched the latest four-cylinder motorcycle in India. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R will be offered only in the Standard guise. The bike is priced at INR 8.49 lakh ex-showroom. The highly anticipated bike is expected to revive the 4-cylinder 400cc segment. In the UK market, the top-end Ninja ZX-4RR is expected to be priced at GBP 8699 (INR. 9,11,204).

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R : More Details

The Ninja ZX-R4 is the latest Kawasaki four-cylinder supersport bike. In the international markets, the Japanese bike maker offers the Ninja ZX-4R in three variants – Standard, SE and ZX-4RR. This unique bike from Kawasaki aims to revive the segment which had bikes like the Kawasaki ZXR400 and Honda CBR400RR.

The bike comes with a 4.3-inch digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The rider can choose from four riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider.

In terms of hardware, the bike is equipped with upside-down front forks from Showa and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by twin 290 mm discs at the front paired with Nissin 4-piston callipers. The rear gets 220 mm disc.

Kawasaki has equipped the bike with 17-inch alloys. These are wrapped with 120/70-section front and 160/60-section rear rubber respectively. The company is also offering dual-channel ABS as standard.

Powertrain of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R

Kawasaki’s ZX-4R comes with a 399cc inline-four cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine revvs to a maximum of 15,000 rpm. In terms of power, the motor is good for 79 BHP @ 14,500 rpm (RAM air assistance added) and 37.6 Nm @ 12,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

In other news Kawasaki has brought back the ZX-6R. The Japanese bike maker has launched the motorcycle in the UK market. The new Kawasaki ZX-6R comes with a 636cc liquid cooled inline-four engine. This is a Euro 5 compliant unit that develops 128 BHP and 69 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. It is not yet known if it is a bi-directional quickshifter. This will complement the ZX-4R as well.
