JK Tyres to be the OEM tyre provider for Kia Seltos

Seltos, the most selling model from the Kia has a new partner for its tyres. JK Tyres, an Indian tyre brand is known for producing tyres suited for Indian road conditions using its technological expertise and have announced that they have tied up with Kia Motors India as the tyre supplier for the Seltos. The Technical Director of JK Tyre and Industries, Mr. V K Misra was quite positive and excited about the partnership and mentioned how this partnership will help strengthen their market presence.

The key points about JK Tyre’s UX Royal 215/60 R17 radial tyres are that they will have a 5-Rib asymmetrical design with variable draft groove technology, stable shoulder tread blocks, waffle groove and aero wing design

Seltos is being offered with three engines. The 1.5-litre petrol produces 115 PS and 144 Nm, meanwhile, the 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol produces 140 PS and 242 Nm and the 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel makes 115 PS and 250 Nm. The four gearboxes options available are Manual, Automatic Torque Converter, Automatic CVT and Automatic Dual Clutch. Multiple engines and gearbox options are the reason why there are a total of 24 variants of the Seltos on sale. The Seltos is packed with features like LED headlamps, LED taillights, LED fog lamps and dual exhaust pipes. As far the interiors are concerned the main highlights are a 10.25-inch touchscreen AVN system with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, 8-inch HUD, ventilated front seats, push-button start/stop and ambient mood lighting.

Till the end of October 2020, Kia has sold about 1,52,891 units of Seltos making up of their 83.29% of sales. The Seltos rivals the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector and the Nissan Kicks. Having priced between Rs 9.89 lakhs and Rs 17.34 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), it has appealed to a large number of car buyers in India and has made the SUV segment a cutthroat competitive. Recently at the Global NCAP’s new round of crash tests, the Kia Seltos scored three stars in the adult occupant protection and for the child occupant protection it scored 2 stars.
