Stellantis-owned Mopar is bringing the new Corning Gorilla Glass technology to the Jeep Wrangler in the United States. American multinational technology company Corning introduced the Gorilla Glass technology for smartphone screens. Now the brand has put to use the lighter and more rigid glass technology for car windshields. The brand has introduced a proprietary windshield for Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator SUV in America. Mopar will retail the windscreen through its network. Mopar is the primary accessories, parts, service and customer care division of Jeep.

Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator users now don’t have the reason to worry about chipped or cracked windshields. The windscreen’s rake on the SUV makes it susceptible to stone chips on the road and crack during off-road runs. Boffins at Corning boast of having made the glass so challenging that they had to invent a new apparatus to test the glass. The Corning Gorilla Glass windshield boasts of taking direct hits from a 1.7-inch diameter pressure strengthened ball of ice.
Chemically-Toughened
Corning makes the Gorilla Glass windshield using a three-layer laminate with a thin-yet-tough inner ply. This laminate glass is also lighter than the standard that can take hits from hail and stone on the road. The glass also offers minimum transparency of 70% for clear vision. The Gorilla Glass is strengthened using a chemical process and comes with three times the higher impact resistance. The glass is also durable than the standard windshield keeping the user on and off-road longer.
Corning Gorilla Glass Windshield for Jeep Wrangler – Availability & Price
The Corning Gorilla Glass windshield will be available for Jeep Wrangler models, including the Sahara and Rubicon. The tough windshield will also be available for the Jeep Gladiator in the Overland, Mojave and Rubicon. In the American market, Mopar will retail the Gorilla Glass for around USD 100, and it will soon be available at local Jeep Dealerships.
