Jeep removes ‘Longitude Option’ variant, 2020 BS6 Compass starts at INR 16.49 lakh

American SUV maker Jeep has rejigged their trim line-up which now includes 4 trim levels – Sport Plus, Longitude, Longitude Plus and Limited Plus. The brand has suspended the Longitude Option trim variant from the line-up as the trim variant is not available on the brand’s official website. The brand a few months ago updated the Longitude and the Limited Plus trims with the latest BS6 compliant diesel engines with automatic drivetrains. 

The Jeep Compass is powered by BS6 compliant 1.4-litre Multiair petrol which produces 162 ps of power and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic 7-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT). Jeep Compass is also available with another BS6 compliant 2.0-litre multijet diesel motor which produces 173 ps of power and 350Nm of torque mated to front-wheel driven 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 7-speed DDCT automatic gearbox. 

Jeep Compass features signature LED position lamps, bi-xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, LED tail lamps, signature Jeep grille, front cornering fog lamps, rear fog lamps, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, power-folding ORVMs, roof rails etc. On the inside, the Jeep Compass features 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with uConnect, memory seats, keyless entry and go, cruise controls, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button engine start, cruise control on automatic transmission variants, dual-zone automatic climate control, etc. 

On the safety front, the Jeep compass features multiple airbags, all four disc brakes, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, electronic parking brake, reverse parking assist, reverse parking camera etc. 

In recent news, the facelift model of the Jeep compass has been spotted testing in China. Though the test mule was highly camouflaged the SUV is speculated to receive subtle changes to its front and rear fascia. The Compass is also being reported to get a 7-seater long base version soon in the Indian market and the 7-seater Compass could be launched with the facelift version. 

The Jeep Compass is priced starting from INR 16.49 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for the entry-level Sport Plus variant in the BS6 petrol avatar and the prices go up to INR 24.99 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for the top-trim Limited Plus BS6 diesel with automatic 4X4 drivetrain.
