Jeep India has launched a new variant of its flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee, called the Signature Edition. This version adds a layer of exclusivity to an already premium package, and targets those who like their luxury with a side of off-road credibility. Think of it as the Grand Cherokee’s black-tie avatar—just with mud still on the boots.
What’s new?
The Signature Edition packs three major upgrades over the standard Limited (O) trim. First, powered side steps—because stepping into a big SUV shouldn’t feel like mounting a horse. Then there’s the dual rear-seat entertainment setup with two 11.6-inch high-resolution Android-based screens. These screens pack Cortex A55 processors and are loaded with features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and built-in speakers—essentially turning the back seat into a lounge.
There’s also an integrated front and rear dashcam setup. It provides 360-degree visibility and records your drives, so you have proof when someone scratches your bumper and says, “it wasn’t me.”
Still a Grand Cherokee
Jeep hasn’t touched the mechanicals. Under the hood is the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It continues to come with Jeep’s Quadra-Trac 4×4 system and a Selec-Terrain traction management system, ensuring that the Signature Edition isn’t just about looks.
It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and offers premium features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5.
Rivals and market position
The Signature Edition goes up against the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, and Audi Q7. At a premium of INR 1.54 lakh over the Limited (O), it adds value without blowing past the segment’s average price point. Limited units will make it even more attractive for buyers looking for a niche, feature-rich SUV that doesn’t shout, but definitely makes a statement.
Final thoughts
Jeep’s Signature Edition of the Grand Cherokee is the automotive equivalent of adding hot sauce to your comfort food. Familiar, premium, but with just enough spice to make things exciting. The dashcams and dual-screen entertainment are more than gimmicks—they make the big SUV a smarter buy. And if you’re still undecided, ask yourself—how many luxury SUVs come with powered steps and the street cred to bash some trails?
