American carmaker Jeep has announced that all the 82 FCA dealerships have started to accept bookings for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk in India at a price of INR 50,000. The new Compass Trailhawk is the off-road focused variant of the standard Jeep Compass.
The car has earned its ‘Trail-Rated’ badge as the SUV features Jeep’s ‘Active Drive Low 4×4’ system. This off-road system offers low range gears, hill-descent control, and a Selec-Terrain system which gets modes like – Auto-Snow-Sand-Mud-Rock. The Compass Trailhawk gets external design changes the Trailhawk also gets a high ground clearance, 27mm higher than standard SUV which gives it a better water wading ability of 483mm. The SUV also has a better approach, break-over and departure angles.
The Jeep Compass Trialhawk features an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, automatic climate control air-conditioning, auto start/stop, auto headlamps, rain sensing wiper, 7.0-inch multi-information display, keyless entry and go, power adjustable driver seats and an optional sunroof.
In terms of safety, the Compass Trailhawk is expected to get all the features as seen on the Compass Limited Plus, like six airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, electronic parking brake, hill-start assist, and reverse parking sensors with a camera.
The major change on the Trailhawk is under the skin, as the car becomes the first in the line of the Compass to get a diesel automatic drivetrain. The Trailhawk gets the 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 173 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque coupled to a 9-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. All the other Jeep Compass diesel model get a 6-speed manual transmission. It is also speculated that the Trailhawk will be the first model to get a BSVI compliant engine, which is likely to replace the BSIV engines in the near future.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is expected to be launched in July at an estimated price of around INR 25 lakh ex-showroom
