Jeep had recently announced the Avenger EV. Now, more details about the regular (internal combustion engine) version of the same have been revealed. The small SUV is expected to go on sale first in the Europe followed by other markets.

Jeep Avenger 1.2 powertrain details

Jeep will borrow the 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine from the Citroen. Since both of them are now in the same Stellantis group, we can expect many such collaborations in the future. In the Citroen C3, this engine develops a peak power of 108 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 190 Nm of peak torque @ 1,750 rpm. The Avenger will get a manual gearbox only initially. It is also possible that an automatic gearbox could be offered at a later stage. In India, the C3 is poised to get an automatic gearbox.

Apart from the engine and gearbox, the Avenger is based on the modular CMP platform, which underpins the the Citroen C3.

Both the EV and the ICE car will get Jeep’s Selec-Terrain off-road modes like the Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Snow. The EV is claimed to get 400 km of range and is rated at 154 HP and 260 Nm of torque. It will get a Stellantis 54kWh battery.

The Avengers gets a traditional 7-slat grille, split headlamps with thin LED DRLs. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, square tail lamps and black cladding all round.

On the inside, the car gets a minimal setup with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display. It has rectangular AC vents and a full-width body coloured stripe on the dashboard. It also gets ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

Jeep Avenger launch in India?

It is not yet clear when the SUV would be launched in India, but one can expect RHD models to be manufactured in India.
