Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the brand has partnered with technology company Google. Under the partnership, Google will integrate the Jaguar I-PACE all-electric SUV with air quality measuring sensors and Street View mapping technology. The Jaguar I-Pace is the first all-electric SUV to combine Google’s street-by-street air quality.

Mobile Air Quality Sensors

The zero tailpipe-emission Jaguar I-Pace comes equipped with special mobile air sensors developed by Aclima. The transportable air sensors will capture data over the next 12 months in Dublin. Google’s scientific research partners will analyse the data. According to this, Google will develop a map of street-level air pollution. The all-electric Google vehicle will measure nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and fine particles (PM2.5).

Google Street View & Google Maps Update

Boffins at Jaguar have also integrated the Google Street View technology into the vehicle. The car features new roof mountings for the Street View camera, new rear window glass for the wiring, and redesigned interior switchgear. The system also helps incorporate Google Street View controls. The Jaguar I-Pace air quality mapping car will also work on updating Google Maps.

In-Car Air Quality Check and Filtration

Apart from detecting the air quality outside, the Jaguar I-Pace also features an air quality monitor inside the car. The production-spec Jaguar I-Pace comes with cabin air ionisation and PM2.5 filtration, and four-zone climate control. The premium electric SUV also comes with handcrafted trim inside the cabin and a driver-oriented dashboard. The car features a 12.3-inch HD instruments cluster, Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, wireless smartphone charging, ClearSight Rear View Mirror with a rear-facing camera.

Jaguar I-Pace Powertrain

The electric power unit on the Jaguar I-Pace produces 400 PS of power and 696 Nm of torque. The 90 kWh battery is capable of delivering a range of 470 km on a single charge. Recharging the I-Pace takes around 8.6 hours using an 11 kW three-phase wall box charger. At a 100 kW DC fast-charging station, the Jaguar I-Pace can gain 127km of range in just 15 minutes.
