Is this a new Renault MPV for India?

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Renault Lodgy was a sales dud, a flop car ever since it was launched. You barely even spot it on the streets. But seems like the French car maker still has dreams of hitting it right in the MPV segment. A couple of spyshots have emerged hinting that Renault has started testing a new MPV for the Indian market, and this could be a sub-4 metre budget utility vehicle based on the CMF-A platform.

Expected to be a 7-seater MPV, this product which is reportedly codenamed as the RBC will make a debut sometime in 2019. This is the first time the vehicle has been spotted testing in open. Obviously, the new RBC MPV will be priced lower than the Lodgy, and in real world situation, will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and not the Datsun Go+ and the likes.

While much isn’t seen from these spyshots, one can make out a large front grille, LED DRLs, wrap around headlamps, 15-16″ rims, dual tone interiors, rear wash + wipe and large windows. No details are available about the engine options for this budget MPV, and if it will get a diesel engine or not considering the diminishing market share of oil burners in every segment.

Since the car will be launched in 2019, it will come with features like dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors as standard.
