Toyota Fortuner, Legender sales skyrocket – What makes it popular?

Toyota Fortuner

Ever since its official debut in 2009, the Fortuner has been the segment leader with its imposing road presence and outstanding reliability.

It is not just the Toyota brand value, but the off-road prowess and strong build quality of the Fortuner, which has led to the amazing sales of more than 3 lakh units.

The 2025 Fortuner is offered with a powerful 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, which develops 201 bhp and a humongous 500 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively.

Additionally, the availability of a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and the capable 4X4 drivetrain make it a popular SUV.

Moreover, it is its durability and low maintenance costs, which attract buyers even after years of no major changes or updates.

Toyota Fortuner Legender SUV

Back in 2021, Toyota launched the Fortuner Legender, which is a more luxurious/upmarket version of the basic version. It features a new set of lights, different alloys, and an overall new appeal.

With the Legender, Toyota also added the much-needed feature updates to the Fortuner moniker, which included the electric seats with ventilation, and more.

As of now, Toyota plans to sell the Fortuner as it is until the next-gen Fortuner arrives next year. The new-gen Fortuner will bring massive change to the moniker, as it will feature a new hybrid engine and a new chassis.

Our verdict

The Fortuner brand value remains the top seller in the Indian SUV car market. Its strong resale value is a testament of the fact that even after years of no updates, customers are willing to pay upwards of Rs 40 lakh to own the butch Toyota SUV.
