Hyundai testing Genesis G80 luxury sedan in India

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Hyundai’s luxury car brand, Genesis could be getting ready to make its debut in the Indian market soon. The Genesis G80 sedan which made its debut in the international market in March 2020 has now been spied testing in Mumbai without camouflage. The Korean brand could be evaluating the luxury car for the Indian market and is likely to introduce the G80 in the coming months. But at this point, it is all speculation and we cannot confirm when the launch is going to take place.

Design & Styling

The Genesis G80 comes with a four-door coupe-esque design language with a sloping roofline the ends far into the rear deck. The front of the car features an imposing Crest grille with a chrome mesh, twin split headlamps, a wide air dam with a chrome treatment, a long bonnet, rounded wheel arches, gill vents, a broad character line that runs through the entire length of the sedan, tail lamps that reverberate with the headlight clusters and gives a wraparound effect from the rear, shark-fin antenna, ‘Genesis’ branding on the tailgate and a chrome applique.

Interior Features

The G80 features a multilayered dashboard with a wraparound effect, soft-touch materials all over the dash, a raised central tunnel, digital instruments cluster, control mounted steering wheel, a rotary gear selector with crystal finish, a large 14.5-inch infotainment screen that sits above the dashboard, wooden dashboard embellishments, multi-zone climate control air-conditioning, plush seats with leather upholstery, a command centre in the rear centre armrest and dual screens for the rear occupants.

Competition Check

The Genesis G80 sit between the G70 and the flagship G90 in the brand international portfolio. If the Genesis G80 comes to India the luxury sedan will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series. The brand also has two premium SUV on offer in the international market – GV70 & GV80 which could be brought to the Indian streets.
