With the all-new Verna currently on sale, Hyundai is now readying itself for its next major launch. This is the made-for-India Ai3 SUV that will sit below the Venue. We recently got a spy shot of this SUV. And this is the first time we are seeing it on the Indian roads
What Do We Know So Far About Hyundai Ai3 SUV?
From the latest spy shot we guess that the India-spec Ai3 will differ substantially from the Hyundai Casper SUV sold on the overseas market. The Ai3 is essentially the SUV version of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
As for the design highlights, the Ai3 draws inspiration from the brand’s latest design language for SUVs. Thus, it features an upright look with slightly boxy proportions. Given the design proposition we have till now, Ai3 will look very different from the Casper and will come with unique door design body panels as well.
What Could The Ai3 SUV Look Like?
The micro-SUV will also carry forward a split-headlamp set-up, with LED daytime running lamps at the top. The daytime running lamps seem to feature the typical ‘H’ pattern. This is what we see on test mules of the upcoming Santa Fe SUV as well. For the rear, the Hyundai Ai3 SUV could get a unique and more angular design for its tail lamps. As opposed to the rounded look of the Casper. The rear bumper, too, is likely to sport a different look thus giving it a pretty fresh look. Talking of its direct rivals we have the likes of Punch and the C3.
Hyundai Ai3 SUV Platform Information
Hyundai Ai3 will use the same platform as the recently updated Grand i10 Nios and the Aura compact sedan duo. In fact, the wheelbase too might remain identical if not the same when compared to these two existing Hyundai models.
Hyundai Ai3 SUV Powertrain Options
Hyundai will place the Ai3 in India between the Grand i10 and the Venue. As far as powertrain options, we believe, the Ai3 micro SUV will most likely share the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as the Venue, Grand i10 and Aura. Not surprising to mention that this SUV has no diesel engine option.
