Hyundai Motors India Limited has announced its sales report for the calendar year 2021. The carmaker has sold a total of 6,35,413 units with a growth of 21.6 percent for the given year including both domestic sales and exports. The sales figure for the domestic market stood at 5.05 lakh units, with a growth of 19.2 per cent when compared to CY 2020. In terms of international business, the carmaker posted a total export figure of 1,30,380 units, this translates to year-over-year growth of 31.8 per cent.

December 2021 Sales Figure

For the month of December 2021, Hyundai Motors India limited posted a total sales of 48,933 units. Of these, 32,312 units accounted for the domestic market. Meanwhile, for exports, the figure stood at 16,621 units. The sales figure for December 2021, when compared to  December 2020, is on the decline. And there are multiple factors for this to happen. First is the sporadic supply in the semiconductors chips, which is a major deterrent in the production of new vehicles. Furthermore, there’s also some disruption in the logistics supply chain that is hampering the movement. But yet, as an overall figure for the entire calendar year, Hyundai India has done pretty well.

Hyundai India’s SUV Range In Much Demand

For CY 2021, Hyundai India posted a total sales of over 2.5 lakh SUVs. The demand for SUVs is on the rise with Hyundai’s offerings taking the lead positions. Hyundai Creta was the highest selling SUV in the country, with a total sales of 1,25,437 units. Other than Creta, Hyundai has four options in the SUV body type. This includes Venue, Alcazar, Tucson and Kona Electric.

Venue is the 2nd most selling product among Hyundai India’s SUV offerings. Alcazar, Hyundai’s most recent addition in the SUV type has also got a very positive response. The car has already clinched the 17,700 unit figure since its launch in June 2021. Hyundai has some big plans for the electric segment. There are reports suggesting that the carmaker will start manufacturing EVs locally, to price them competitively in the market.
