Hyundai Ioniq 6 N: A performance EV ready to take on the track
Hyundai is gearing up to unleash its most aggressive electric sedan yet, the Ioniq 6 N, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2025. The teasers reveal a bold, motorsport-inspired design, hinting at serious performance upgrades over the standard Ioniq 6.
Design and aerodynamics
The Ioniq 6 N builds on the MY26 Ioniq 6 facelift, featuring:
- Flared fenders, giving it a wider stance.
- Lightweight alloy wheels, improving handling and efficiency.
- A massive rear wing spoiler, enhancing high-speed stability.
- Slimmer LED headlights and pixel-themed DRLs, adding a futuristic touch.
Hyundai has focused on aerodynamic efficiency, ensuring the sedan EV delivers track-ready performance while maintaining everyday usability.
Ioniq 6 N expected powertrain and performance
While Hyundai hasn’t officially confirmed specs, reports suggest the new car will inherit the 650 hp AWD setup from the Ioniq 5 N. If true, this would make it Hyundai’s fastest electric sedan, capable of 0-100 km/h in around 3.5 seconds.
The Ioniq 5 N features a dual-motor setup, with the front motor producing 222 hp and the rear delivering 377 hp. The 6 N is expected to match or exceed these figures, offering supercar-level acceleration. Moreover, the aerodynamic styling and lower ground clearance will give it an edge.
Market position and expected pricing
Hyundai is positioning its new performance electric sedan as a direct rival to the BMW i4 M50 and Tesla Model 3 Performance. The Ioniq 5 N is priced at $66,200 (INR 56.62 lakh), so the Ioniq 6 N could carry a slight premium, staying under $70,000 (INR 59.87 lakh).
