Hyundai i20 N-Line continues road testing, reveals twin exhaust tail pipes

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Hyundai is planning to launch the sportier version of the i20 called the ‘N Line’ in the Indian market. The Korean brand will position the i20 N Line above the top-spec i20 but the price is likely to be around the INR 12 lakh mark which is not substantially higher than the INR 10.75 lakh ex-showroom.

Spyshots

The Hyundai i20 N Line was also spotted earlier but the spy shots did not show the twin chrome tailpipes. The latest images that emerged on the internet also show the chrome tailpipes that are employed on the international model. The N Line in the international-spec model also comes with changes to the bumpers which are sportier as well as a larger grille with chequered flag mesh.

In the international model, the Hyundai i20 comes with a dual-tone roof, large size alloy wheels with a sporty design, N Line badged radiator grille, motorsport-inspired interiors, sporty steering wheel with N Line badge, N Line specific gear select lever, red accents on the dashboard, door trim and seats, aluminium pedals etc.

Powertrain

The international version of the Hyundai i20 N Line is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that pumps out 120 PS of power but the key difference between the turbo petrol Hyundai i20 and i20 N Line is the addition of the 48-Volt mild-hybrid system that delivers a better engine response as well as adds to the fuel efficiency of the car. But at this point, we cannot comment if the brand will bring the mild-hybrid unit to the Indian market.

Not to be confused with the N Line, the Hyundai i20 ‘N’ is the full-blown performance variant of the i20 which is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol mill that produces more than 200 Hp of power matched to a 6-speed manual transmission with front-wheel drive architecture and a limited-slip differential.
