Hyundai Motor India has expanded its i20 lineup with the introduction of the Magna Executive variant, priced at ₹7.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This new trim is positioned below the Magna variant, making the i20 more accessible to budget-conscious buyers while retaining essential safety and convenience features.
What’s new in the Magna Executive?
The Magna Executive comes with a manual transmission and offers a solid package of safety and comfort features. Hyundai has equipped this variant with:
- Six airbags, ensuring enhanced occupant protection.
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) for better handling.
- 15-inch steel wheels with full covers, maintaining a stylish look.
- Digital instrument cluster with TFT multi-information display (MID).
Updates to Magna and Sportz (O) variants
Alongside the Magna Executive launch, Hyundai has upgraded the Magna and Sportz (O) trims. The Magna iVT variant now gets a smart electric sunroof, rear AC vents, and LED DRLs, while the Sportz (O) trim benefits from a Bose premium 7-speaker sound system, smart key with push-button start, and fully automatic climate control.
Powertrain and performance
The i20 Magna Executive retains Hyundai’s 1.2L Kappa petrol engine, producing 83 PS and 114.7 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission, ensuring smooth city driving and decent highway performance.
Market position and pricing
With the Magna Executive variant, Hyundai aims to strengthen its presence in the premium hatchback segment, competing with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Honda Amaze.
