Hyundai has discontinued Grand i10 Nios AMT variants?

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

As per reports, Hyundai has discontinued the top-spec Asta AMT variant of the Grand i10 NIOS. The reports also suggest that dealers have stopped taking bookings for the same. Interestingly enough, the variant is still present on the brand’s official website.

Thus going forward, the Grand i10 NIOS equipped with the automated manual transmission (AMT) will come available in two trims, Magna and Sportz. The car gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The performance rating of this motor reads as 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm.

We also have the reason why Hyundai has decided to discontinue the Asta AMT variant. This may hint towards the preparation for the launch of the Grand i10 NIOS facelift. This updated hatchback will arrive in the first half of next year.

What Could Be The New Grand i10 NIOS?

As a part of this update, the Grand i10 NIOS facelift is likely to get a few cosmetic changes on the outside.  For freshness, the upcoming Grand i10 NIOS will most likely get a redesigned grille. Further, we could also see the unique boomerang-shaped LED DRLs repositioned. The side profile will largely remain the same. Although, depending on the variant, we will get to see tweaked wheel caps and alloy wheels. As for the rear, the Grand i10 NIOS is likely to get redesigned LED tail lights.

Key highlighting features will include projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and dual-tone alloy wheels.

Upcoming Grand i10 NIOS will retain the same mechanicals. Thus under the hood, the updated Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS will most likely continue with the existing petrol, diesel, and CNG options. The petrol engine option makes 82 BHP at 6,000rpm and 114Nm at 4,000rpm. Meanwhile, the CNG version makes 68 BHP at 6,000 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The diesel engine on sale belts out 74 BHP at 4,000rpm and 190Nm at 1,750rpm. As mentioned, the hatchback will come available in both manual and AMT transmission options.
