Hyundai is all set to launch their new mass market product in the Indian market by the name of Exter. The Hyundai Exter will be the country’s 1st sub-4-metre SUV which will be launched as 6-airbags as standard. The Hyundai Exter will get driver, passenger, curtain & side airbags as standard. This would set a new benchmark in the micro-SUV segment. The Hyundai Exter will primarily rival the likes of Tata Punch and will be positioned below the Venue in Hyundai’s lineup.

Hyundai’s Exter SUV will be sold only with a petrol engine option, no diesel motor which is also seen in the Venue. However, there will be a petrol+CNG bi-fuel variant on offer.

Hyundai Exter Safety Features:

Hyundai’s Exter compact-SUV will not only get 6-airbags as standard, but 26 safety features spread across all variants. Even the entry level E & S variants of the Exter will get optional safety features. Hyundai will offer safety features such as ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), HAC (Hill Assist Control), 3-point seat belts for all passengers, ABS, EBD, burglar alarm which is a segment first, ISOFIX mounts and more.

Overall, Hyundai Exter’s top trims would get up to 40 safety features which would also include a dual camera dashcam which would be a segment first, TPMS which would be a first in segment again, headlamp escort function, rear parking camera, etc. Other features will include ESS, parking sensors, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, rear defogger, and more.

Hyundai’s SUV Portfolio:

As a flagship product in the SUV segment, Hyundai retails the Tucson in the Indian market. The most popular and dominant in its class is the Creta. Apart from this, Hyundai has the Venue which fights it out in the very competitive sub-4 metre segment and the Exter will slow in below at an affordable price point. For the family audience who wants a larger car, Hyundai also offers the Creta-based Alcazar SUV with more luxury features. Even the all-electric and overall flagship product for Hyundai in India, the Ioniq 5 is positioned as an SUV.
