The Hyundai Elite i20 made its world debut today in New Delhi, India. The car has been launched in India at prices ranging between Rs. 4.89 – Rs. 7.66 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The Elite i20 has significant changes to the styling and is based on Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture 2.0. Hyundai’s premium hatchback, on the exterior front, gets a large hexagonal grille, longer bonnet, swept back & automatic headlamps, trapezoidal fog lamps, dual-tone 16″ alloy wheels, blackened B and C pillars, chrome finished door handles, 3-step wrap around tail lamps etc. The car will be available in 7 exterior colour options.
Inside, the Elite i20 gets dual-tone black and beige interior, steering wheel with audio controls, start-stop button, keyless entry, auto folding ORVMs, 2-din stereo system with USB, Aux-in, Bluetooth and 1 GB internal memory, instrument cluster with integrated MID, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, driver armrest with storage space, driver seat height adjustment, sunglass holder etc. Boot space available is 285 litres.
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS, impact sensing door unlock, rear parking camera with adaptive parking guide lines, reverse parking sensors etc.
The Elite i20 will be sold with only two engine options. The 1.4L petrol motor has been discontinued and also, there is no automatic variant on offer as of now. The petrol motor is a 1.2L VTVT Kappa unit producing 82 BHP of power and 115 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.4L U2 CRDi unit producing 89 BHP of power and 220 Nm of torque. Petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox, while the diesel gets a 6-speed unit. Fuel efficiency is rated at 18.60 kmpl for the petrol and 22.54 kmpl for the diesel.
