Key highlights

  • Hyundai Creta tops sales charts for the second straight month
  • 17,016 units sold in April 2025, 10.2% YoY growth
  • Creta Electric adds fresh charge to the SUV’s popularity

In a market as fiercely competitive as India’s, sitting on the throne even for a day is a big deal. The Hyundai Creta has done exactly that—topped the Indian automotive sales charts yet again in April 2025, selling 17,016 units and clocking a year-on-year growth of 10.2%. And no, it’s not just topping SUV charts anymore—it’s the highest-selling vehicle across all segments.

The sales numbers

From January to April 2025, Creta’s cumulative sales hit 69,914 units, cementing its place as India’s best-selling SUV in the first quarter of the year. What’s even more interesting? Hyundai’s SUV range contributed a record-breaking 70.9% to its domestic sales in April. Clearly, the SUV wave is only getting stronger—and Hyundai seems to be surfing it with a whole lot of style.

Hyundai Creta electric adds to the tally

A part of this success can be credited to the launch of the Creta Electric. With the world slowly going from petrolheads to plug-in heads, Hyundai’s move to electrify its bestseller makes perfect business sense. While exact figures for the EV variant aren’t out yet, it’s already turning heads and charging expectations.

Creta continues to build on its strengths—bold design, comfortable interiors, connected tech, and a feature-loaded package that covers everything from ADAS to a panoramic sunroof. Engine options remain diverse with naturally aspirated and turbo petrol, diesel, and now an electric avatar—all mated to a wide selection of transmissions.

In terms of rivals, the Kia Seltos remains its closest competitor, offering similar tech and bling but losing out on overall sales numbers. Others like the Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Skoda Kushaq continue to nibble at market share but haven’t managed to dethrone the segment king.
