Hyundai could launch the Genesis sedan in India

Hyundai could launch the Genesis sedan in India

Hyundai will display the Genesis sedan at the 2014 Autocar Performance Show this weekend in Mumbai. The company claims that if they receive a favourable feedback from the customers during the show, they might consider bringing in a few units as CBU to India. If the Genesis does make it to the Indian streets, it will be priced in the range of Rs. 45 lakh and will rival the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The Genesis is a feature rich car, just like other Hyundai products in their respective segments. On the exteriors, the car features a chunky 6-slat chtome grille, LED & projector headlamps, DRLs, LED tail lamps, sharkfin antenna, quad exhausts, chrome weather strips, multi-spoke alloy wheels,  etc. At the front, it ditches the conventional Hyundai logo for a winged emblem, to distinguish the Genesis from other Hyundai products.

On the inside, the interior trim boasts of all the luxury features and gets leather upholstery. Interior features include a 9.2″ touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, wooden inserts, 17-speaker hi-fi audio system, electric seats, start / stop button etc.

The Genesis is powered by V6 and V8, direct-injection petrol engines with power output touching the 420 BHP mark. There’s no diesel engine option available, which could be a problem here in India. The Genesis will be a rear-wheel drive model, as opposed to the current front-wheel drive line-up of Hyundai cars in India.

Do you think it makes sense for Hyundai to launch the Genesis here in India?
