Hyundai gets 1,15,000 booking for new Creta in India, over 5,20,000 Creta SUV sold till now

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has announced that the brand has bagged over 115,000 on the much-popular all-new Hyundai Creta SUV. Since its launch in the Indian market, in 2015, the Hyundai has sold over 520,000 Creta SUVs in the Indian market setting a new benchmark in the SUV segment. The 2nd generation Creta with 115,000 bookings was launch in March 2020 and despite the COVID-19 associated lockdown, Hyundai managed to sales charts in the SUV segment from May ~ September 2020 along with a strong Market Share of 26 % in SUV Segment for CY Jan ~ Sept 2020. The brand also revealed that the all-new Creta in the diesel variant holds 60% of the share. 

The second-generation Creta is powered by a 1.5 MPi naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual or an IVT (CVT) gearbox, 1.5 U2 turbocharged CRDi diesel engine that produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter type gearbox and a 1.4 Kappa Turbo GDi Petrol engine that produces 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Automatic Transmission). Select models also come with 3 Drive modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Traction Control Modes (Snow, Sand, Mud) that optimise the driving comfort across different terrains.

Recently, the brand also added a new entry-level E trim with a petrol engine launched at INR 9.82 lakhs ex-showroom, India making the Creta even more affordable for entry-level buyer’s. Also, it is important to note that both the petrol and diesel engine prices on the Hyundai Creta have been hiked on the other variants. The petrol EX trim sees a hike of around INR 62,000 and now starts at INR 10.61 lakh ex-showroom. All the other trims in the petrol engine option see an increase of INR 12,000 over the ex-showroom price. The same goes for the diesel trim where except for the entry-level E trim all variants see an increase of around INR 12,000 over the old price range. 

Hyundai registered a cumulative sales of 59,913 Units for the month of September 2020. The brand also recorded domestic sales of 50,313 units and exports of 9,600 units. The brand shows a 23.6% growth in the month of September 2020 over the same period last year.
