Hyundai Verna gets petrol ‘E’ variant, priced INR 36,000 less than previous base variant

Hyundai has added a new base variant in the line-up. The new Hyundai Verna E trim which comes with a 1.5 l MPi Petrol engine with 6-Speed Manual Transmission priced at INR 902,900 making it approximately INR 35,600 cheaper than the previous base variant the Verna S trim. The new E trim is based on the S trim and features the same exteriors and styling but misses out on a few features on the inside. 

The new E trim misses out of features such sunglass holder, a USB charger in the front has been removed but the USB on the rear has been retained, however, the 12V DC power outlet has also been retained. But the biggest change is the 8 Inch Touchscreen infotainment system which with Android Auto and Apple Car Play which has been removed for cost savings. 

Powering the Hyundai Verna E trim is a 1.5-litre MPI  naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Other variants are also offered with an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission) automatic gearbox. The Hyundai Verna is also available with 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine that produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection petrol (TGDi) engine that produces 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) with paddle shifter on the steering.

It also comes with interior features such as all-digital instruments cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, manual rear curtains, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped control mounted steering wheel and gear knob, cup holders and wireless charging on the top trims. 

In terms of competition, the Hyundai Verna competes with the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Ciaz and the likes.
