Hyunda Elantra facelift spotted testing in India

Hyundai is getting ready to introduce its 2019 facelift Elantra in India. The new facelift model has already been introduced in some countries and the new model comes with styling changes to the exterior as well as some interior changes. A heavily camouflaged test mule of the 2019 facelift model has been spotted testing in India and the car is likely to receive changes in the styling department such as redesigned triangular headlamps, new fog lights, large cascading grille, revamped bonnet design, new LED taillights, new bumpers on both the front and rear and a boot-lid spoiler. On the interiors, the car will see some changes like a new 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, steering mounted controls, rear view camera, redesigned seats, etc.

In the engine department, the 2019 car is expected to come with the same engine configuration currently seen on the model which is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC with dual VTVT, multipoint injection petrol engine that develops 152 PS of power and 192.2 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel version of the 2019 Elantra is also likely to come with the engine currently employed on the model, which is a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC with VGT, common rail diesel injection motor that produces 128 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with an option of a 6-speed automatic. 

In terms of safety, the 2019 Elantra is expected to get a 6 airbag system, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, hill start assist, auto cruise control, vehicle stability management, impact sensing door unlock, Hyundai SmartSense safety package with forward collision-avoidance system, lane keeping assists, and driver attention assist.

In terms of competition, the new Hyundai Elantra will be pinned against the Skoda Octavia, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis and is likely to be priced in the INR 14 lakh to INR 20 lakh bracket with its launch to be slated around the festive season.
