Honda X-ADV 750 – A practical and fun scooter

Honda X-ADV 750

If practicality and enthusiasm had to be a mix, then it would be called the Honda X-ADV 750. Honda’s new maxi scooter is a fabulous mix of mid-weight sportsbike power, capability of an off-roader, and the ease of a gearless scooter.

Launched at Rs 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new X-ADV 750 will be sold exclusively through the Honda Big Wing showrooms.

It is styled like a proper big bike from the front as it gets a massive windscreen, dual projector LED lights, golden USD forks, tubeless cross-spoke rims, and an upright tubular handlebar with kuckle guards.

Aiding its practicality, a single seat offers good cushioning to the rider and the passenger, whilst the upright exhaust can and closed footboard area make up for agile handling.

Powering the X-ADV 750 maxi scooter is a 745cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor, which makes 57.8 hp and 69 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Being a scooter means it is gearless, hence it uses a DCT transmission as standard.

Meanwhile, it is equipped with the latest features like a 5-inch TFT colour screen, Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, dual-channel ABS, and four riding modes: Standard, Sport, Rain, and Gravel.

Additionally, keeping the “ADV” alive in its name, Honda offers a 41mm USD suspension on the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. It rides on a 17-inch front wheel and a 15-inch rear wheel.

Braking duty is done by a 296mm front disc rotor and a 240mm rear disc rotor, which are coupled with a dual-channel ABS. Riders also get cruise control for relaxed highway riding.

However, these specs do not mean that it is not practical. Therefore, Honda has equipped it with a 22-litre underseat storage and a USB-charging port for additional practicality.

Our verdict

While a maxi scooter looks nice in the product lineup, it is high time that Honda should focus on bringing practical and fun products to India. The global models like the CBR 300R and the CBR 250RR will make more sense considering the emerging domestic performance bike market.
