Honda: Worlds largest scooter plant in Gujarat

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. today laid the foundation stone for their upcoming manufacturing facility at Vithalapur in Ahemedabad, Gujarat. This will be Honda’s fourth manufacturing facility in India.

This new facility will be operational by end of 2015 and total investments in Gujarat now account for Rs. 1,100 crore. Spread over 250 acres of land, once operational, this new plant will roll out 1.2 million units only of scooters annually. This will make it the worlds largest scooter manufacturing facility. Total production capacity for Honda will then touch 5.8 million units annually.

The new plant is expected to employ  3,000 people in the first two years of commercial production. Honda has already started CSR activities such as installing solar powered hub lights in the area and local recreation centres as well.
