Honda working on NT1100 sports tourer based on Africa Twin

In the past, manufacturers have engineered multiple motorcycle models through platform engineering. The move helps save resources and allows the company to market the product at a competitive rate. Honda is no stranger to such platform engineering. Recently, the brand unveiled the newly updated MY22 Honda Africa Twin. Now the brand plans to spawn a new model based on the Africa Twin platform.

Honda NT1100 – European Type Approvals

According to reports, Honda filed patents for the NT1100 moniker in the international market. The NT1100 is a sports tourer, and two versions of the NT1100 have reportedly received type approvals – NT1100A and NT1100D. Sources also report that the European type approval is evidence that the brand will soon launch the two new versions.

Honda NT1100 – Design Highlights

The media report mentions that sources from Japan have also rendered images based on the available information. According to the rendered images, the Honda NT1100 will come with a semi fairing sporty design. The motorcycle features a short windscreen that offers wind protection to the rider while allowing sleek and sporty looks. The front fascia gets double split headlamps with black inserts and a chiselled fairing and fuel tank. The motorcycle comes with a scooped bench seat and an upswept exhaust.

Honda NT1100 – Engine Specifications

According to reports, the Honda NT1100 will come with a 1084cc parallel-twin cylinder liquid-cooled motor. The 8-valve SOHC engine with Programmed Fuel Injection system produces 102 PS of power and 105 Nm of torque. Honda has just updated the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) regarding its 1st and 2nd gear output and refinement. Thanks to the update, the new DCT transmission offers better than before standing start and low-speed tractability.

Honda NT1100 – Features

The Honda NT1100 is likely to come with a TFT touchscreen display with Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration. The NT1100 will borrow the unit from the current Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin. The bike is also likely to come with multi-spoke alloy wheels shod in road-biased tyres. But the rendered images also show a metal bash plate that will be helpful while traversing rough roads.
