Honda will launch 2 new electric scooters in India in 2024

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is soon going to introduce electric scooters in the Indian market. This fact was confirmed thanks to the official documents from the Honda Global.

Honda’s electric scooter plans in India

According to the Japanese bike maker’s plans, Honda will launch two electric scooters in India in 2024. We are not yet aware of the exact timeline, but apparently this is a done deal. Further, Honda is also planning to make use of sources other than swappable batteries to power these. This will not only give a choice to the buyer but also allow Honda to explore new technologies as well.

What do we know about the new Honda electric scooters?

From the leaked documents, we can see the basic silhouette of the scooters. Amongst the two, one could be targeted towards family usage while the other could be for those wanting sporty options. The sporty electric scooter could take inspiration from Honda’s Dio scooter. Meanwhile the family-oriented scooter looks similar to the Activa range.

Honda Activa is India’s most popular scooter. It is also the highest selling scooter across India. With increasing demand for electric scooters, Honda could do well catering to this segment.

The scooters could also have optional battery swapping technology. Apart from the usual features, we can expect the scooters to come with all-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled touchscreen display, a combi braking system, and a smartphone application. The scooters could also come with smart connectivity features as well.

Competition to the Honda electric scooters

These Honda scooters will head up against the likes of the Hero Vida V1, Ather 450, and Ola S1. Hence we can estimate that the Honda scooters could be priced in a similar price range. Honda could also offer these scooter with multiple power options and battery sizes as well.
