Honda sold 7,187 cars in February ’22

Honda Cars India posted its sales report for February 2022. The Japanese carmaker sold 7,187 units as domestic sales, and 2,337 units as exports. When compared to February 2021, the figure stood as 9,324 units as domestic sales and 987 units as exports. With the decrease in Covid cases, customers are finally out of their homes. This is helping revamp the demand, thus boosting the sales. The chip shortage issue is still pretty much prevalent in today’s time. Honda mentioned that there’s some impact on their production due to this. But, reports suggest that the situation will improve in the future, so this will help Honda to meet the market demand more effectively.

Honda City Hybrid In Plans For India?

As per recent reports, Honda might bring in the new Honda City hybrid for the Indian market. Moreover, there’s also a talk that Honda has concluded the prototype testing of the City hybrid in India. Initially, there were reports claiming that Honda had plans to launch this hybrid sedan in early 2021. And then, with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the plans got deployed further.

Honda is currently retailing the City Hybrid in Thailand in the South East Asian region. If this plan goes through, City will go head to head with the Maruti Ciaz, which also comes with a mild-hybrid powertrain that uses a Belt Assisted Starter. Hybrid ensures better fuel efficiency and better with emissions as well, that’s a win on both important fronts.

There was some speculation suggesting that Honda is planning to exit India soon. But, soon, there was an official statement directly from Honda India that assured that there were no such plans. Although, it is true that Honda Car India has shut down production at their plant in Greater Noida. But, they will continue to manufacture cars at their Rajasthan manufacturing facility. This will help meet the demand for both domestic as well as overseas markets.
