Honda sold 3,53,188 two-wheelers in May 2022

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has posted the sales report for May 2022. The two-wheeler maker has sold a total of 3,53,188 units for the given period. This figure breaks down as 3,20,844 for domestic sales and 32,344 for exports. Compared to May 2021, the year-over-year growth is significantly high, wherein sales were impacted due to multiple lockdowns due to the second pandemic wave. In terms of demand, the market is going back to normal. With the opening up of physical offices and educational institutes, the demand is getting back to the pre-covid level.

Key highlights of May 2022

Honda is extensively expanding its dealership network for its premium BigWing showrooms. The latest showrooms have come up in Muvattupuzha Attingal (Kerala) and Indore (Madhya Pradesh). This expansion drive will keep attracting more customers and enhance the engagements. Thus resulting in a sales boost.

In terms of road safety, wherein HMSI has always played a pivotal role in conducting road safety awareness campaigns in Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Bongaigaon (Assam). Furthermore, HMSI also kick-started a road safety summer camp for children aged 8-14 years in Hyderabad.

In the motorsports world, Repsol Honda marquee rider Marc Marquez secured 10th position at the Italian GP. Meanwhile, his teammate had an accident and crashed out earlier in the race. Marc Marquez, however, won’t be racing for the rest of the season due to surgery on his right arm.

Honda Racing India’s Rajiv Sethu earned 5 points, whereas Senthil Kumar earned 3 points in round 2 of Malaysia’s Asia Road Racing Championship. Meanwhile, for race 2 of the 2022 Thailand Talent Cup (TTC), Sarthak Chavan became the first Indian rider to secure a podium finish at TTC by finishing 3rd.

Honda is increasingly engaging more and more audiences with its safety awareness program. The company has conducted a host of programs that involved school children, college students and adults. Given India’s abysmal record in terms of road accidents, proper education on road safety is of utmost priority.
