Honda sold 3,29,393 cars in May 2023

Honda Car India has released its May 2023 sales report. As per the figures, the sales have seen a downhill slide in recent months. This has happened as the brand axed Jazz, WR-V and the older fourth-gen City from its product lineup.

Honda Cars India’s Sales Figure On The Decline

The same trend was visible for the month of May as well. The brand posted a total sales of 4,660 units. This was down by 43 per cent from last year. The carmaker had reported a total sales of 8,188 units in May 2022. Even though the carmaker had a much larger line-up of models in comparison.

Honda Cars India currently only offers two models to customers. These are namely, the Amaze subcompact sedan and the City compact sedan. The former is available as a petrol-only model. Meanwhile, Honda City is available with standard petrol and strong hybrid powertrains.

Detailed Sales Analysis

Talking of month-on-month growth, the sales were also down 12.3 per cent compared to April 2023. Honda Cars India reported a total domestic sales of 5,313 units in the month. This was also a 32 per cent year-on-year decline.

In terms of exports as well, the figures were down year-on-year at 587 units. This compares to 1,997 units in May 2022. On a month-on-month basis, Honda’s exports declined a notable 71.2 per cent – down from 2,042 units in April 2023.

Honda mentioned that the sales for the month of May’23 were in line with their plan. The Amaze and City continue to bring in significant sales for the brand. And now, Honda has also revealed their new SUV model, Honda Elevate.

Honda Elevate Aims To Boost Sales For Honda

The new Honda SUV is already garnering a lot of attraction and talking in the market from customers across our network and platforms. With the Elevate, Honda is looking to boost its overall domestic sales recovery, as SUVs are a popular body style among Indian buyers.
