Honda recalls Gold Wing & CBR1000RR in India for fuel pump issue

Written by News Team

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has issued a recall for two of its top-tier motorcycles, the GL1800 Gold Wing and CBR1000RR, because of a faulty fuel pump.

Affected Honda motorcycles

The recall affects Gold Wings manufactured between December 2017 and December 2023, and CBR1000RR units built between September 2017 and April 2020. The improperly molded fuel pump impellers in these models can lead to deformation, resulting in fuel pump failure.

An inoperative fuel pump could lead to the engine stalling without indication1. This could be very dangerous, especially at high speeds2. Honda will replace the faulty component free of charge.

Resolution

Owners can check if their bike is among those affected by the recall by entering the 17-digit VIN on the Honda BigWing website. Honda assures its customers a free inspection and replacement of the fuel pump, irrespective of the warranty status of the model.

The replacement work will take approximately 1 hour to complete. Honda Gold Wing GL1800 and the CBR1000RR Fireblade customers will be notified through Honda BigWing dealerships.

For more information, owners are encouraged to visit the Honda BigWing India website or contact their local Honda BigWing dealership.
