Honda plans to launch Beat scooter in India?

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Honda could be planning to introduce a new Moto-scooter in the Indian market called the Beat. The Honda Beat is a premium offering in the South-Asian market and comes with a 110cc motor along with a lot comfort and convenience features. In addition to this, the Honda Beat runs on 14-inch alloy wheels which could place it in the maxi scooter category in the Indian market. However, the engine is likely to be the same as the Honda Activa in India.

Engine and Mechanicals

The engine is a 109.5cc single cylinder air-cooled motor with eSP and produces 9 Hp of power and 9.2 Nm of torque. While the displacement is similar to the Honda Activa the power and torque output of on the Honda Beat is slightly higher. The scooter also comes with telescopic front fork and a disc brake on the front. In addition to this, the Beat also comes with 14-inch cast alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, 12-litre luggage space and 4.2-litres of fuel tank capacity. Honda in the international market also claims that the Beat return a mileage of 58.2 kmpl.

Features and Colours

In the features department, the Honda Beat comes with LED headlamps, a semi digital instruments cluster, ACC power socket, and a number of colour options including – Pearl Arctic White and Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Fighting Red, Pearl Sylvestris Gray, Pearl Nightfall Blue, and Clipper Yellow.

Now, filing design patents does not necessarily warrant that the company will launch its product in the Indian market. But it is also possible that Honda is just filing the patent to protect the intellectual property rights of the vehicle. However, if Honda launches the Beat in the Indian market, it will compete with the Suzuki Burgman 125 as well as the Yamaha Aerox 155 to some extent.
