Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. have been doing wonders when it comes to their sales figures. Yes, nothing exciting has been coming out in the premium motorcycle segment or the entry level sportsbike segment, but the market is accepting whatever the brand is selling with open arms. Now, the Japanese manufacturer has revealed their plans for the Indian market in FY 2018-19.
HMSI reveals that they will be launching one completely new model and 18 refreshes to their existing product portfolio. In total, including motorcycles, scooters & superbikes; Honda currently has 24 products on sale. So a 18 product refresh means that Honda will be giving a facelift to nearly their entire product portfolio.
What will be the one new model, is unknown. It could be yet another scooter, or may be, a new motorcycle. Honda currently has no rival product for the likes of Royal Enfield, and it was being said that a motorcycle is being considered. So will this be it? Time will tell. Meanwhile, you can research on the Honda Rebel 300.
Honda will be investing close to INR 800 crore in overall development of products, plant & dealer network. Honda is targeting to have 6,000 touchpoints in the country in this financial year. Also, the brand wants 250 touchpoints of their pre-owned two-wheeler business Best Deal.
Honda will also introduce a new Joy Club loyalty program this year.
Honda is also preparing for the BSVI emission norms which come into play in 2020. Honda has already sent out communication with their suppliers for a smooth transition from BSIV to BSVI.
