Honda patents CBR250RR sportsbike in India, launch unlikely

Japanese motorcycle brand, Honda has filed patents of the CBR250RR sports bike in India. The demand of 250cc bikes in the Indian market has been on the rise. Even with Honda filing patents for this sports bike, it is still unclear whether India will witness its launch or not.

Honda’s fully-faired motorcycles are rarely seen in India. Honda though their Big Wing network retail the CBR650R & CBR1000RR-R in India. The CBR250RR would have also been a great choice for Indians in the 250cc motorcycle segment. For Honda, the ‘R’ stands for being sportier and high in performance.

Updated features of CBR250RR

The CBR250RR has been slightly improved in styling whereas the design of the bike more or less remains the same. The fairings of the bike are revised slightly in the manner that it now looks a little more aggressive. Other than that even the turn indicators look different than the previous models sold. For MY 2023, CBR250RR has new graphics and color schemes. The LED headlights however, remain the same.

Honda’s CBR250RR is powered by a 249cc, parallel-twin, 4-stroke, 8-valve, liquid-cooled engine that produces a power of 38.7 PS and delivers a torque of 23.3 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The engine also benefits from a slipper-assist clutch and is matched to a 6-speed gearbox. In India, Honda had launched the CBR250R a long time back, but discontinued it due to new emission norms kicking in and low demand.

The CBR250RR is equipped with dual-channel ABS, USD front fork & a rear mono-shock. The kerb weight of the bike is 166-168 kg and the seat height is 790mm. The tank can carry 14.5 liters capacity of fuel.

For now, the latest CBR250RR has just been displayed online. The updated model is to only be launched in Indonesia, as per reports. Despite patents being filed; it is unlikely to make it to India in the near future. If at all the bike is introduced in India it will rival and compete with KTM RC 390, BMW G 310 RR, TVS Apache RR 310 and many other bikes of the same segment, specs & price range.
